Thank you for the aloha and concern you have expressed for our island over the last couple of weeks. We are as worried about our East side neighbors as you are and wanted to share useful information for those who are looking for ways to help.
As you know, Live Aloha Realty was built with the goal of using Real Estate for positive change within our Big Island community. Although the vast majority of the island – including Kona and the Kohala Coast – remains unchanged and safe from danger, our hearts go out to those on the East side of the island who are facing the devastation of their lives.
If you feel the same as we do, and are looking for accurate and up-to-date information, you can read the latest updates here and at www.punalavaflow2018.com. The latter is a community-sourced website that includes news updates and information on ways to help.
One of our non-profit partners, The Big Island Giving Tree, is one organization listed on the website. They have for years provided food, household goods, and general support to those in need on our island and we are thankful to them for what they are doing to assist those affected by the current lava flows in Puna.
We know the heavy news coverage can be concerning, but you can rest assured: the current lava flow is highly localized, centered on a 10 square mile area nearly 100 miles away from the resort areas of Waikoloa, Mauna Lani, and Mauna Kea. The Big Island that you know and love is as solid and beautiful as ever and we look forward to welcoming all of our visitors back again soon.
With our warmest mahalo and aloha,
The Live Aloha Realty team
